Step by Step – the first steps towards your book
Most of us don’t write a book every day. It may well be a long-cherished dream of yours to bring your own publication to life one day.
The idea has often been in your head for quite some time. Actually getting down to it requires energy and determination. In this article, I’ll reveal how you can work towards your publication in a structured, sensible way, taking it step by step with baby steps.
Procedure:
1. Ask yourself the following questions and write down the answers:
- What ideas do you already have about your publication?
- In terms of the number of copies (print run), binding type (hardback or paperback), format, length (number of pages) and materials.
- Ideally, what do you hope to achieve by carrying out your project? What is your aim?
- What is your budget?
2. Bring a whole host of inspiration into your home
- Immerse yourself in our virtual Bindorama. In our digital library, you’ll find specific examples, spectacular binding styles and plenty of detailed information on completed projects, including the materials used and how they were executed.
Using the filter options, you can search specifically for a particular binding style, view its areas of application and find out which design suits your project best.
3. Explore possible production options
- If you’re familiar with professional design programmes such as InDesign, then take a look at the PDF-to-Book online service.
If you’re not familiar with industry-standard design programmes, you can easily design your publication using our Bookfactory software.
If you’re not very familiar with design and need professional help, our in-house or external design experts can assist you, and together we’ll follow the bespoke Bubu a-z way.
